Your data
Profile & privacy
The game is built so your work stays yours: your prompts and your code never leave your machine, the online server gets scores and counts, and you can take everything it keeps with you or delete it. This page is the short version; the full privacy notice lists every table the server keeps.
What never leaves your machine
- Your prompts, the prompt before each, and Claude's answers. Haiku grades a prompt inside your own Claude Code, on your own Claude account.
- Haiku's note on a prompt and the words it flagged as misspelled. They stay in the mod's memory for the pet's tips and the last-prompt card.
- Your code, file paths, commands and diffs.
- Repo names, commit hashes, branches and pull request numbers: online, the mod sends only opaque keys made with a secret that stays on your machine, so the server can tell your repos apart without knowing which they are.
What the mod sends
On the online server, the mod sends what happened, as events the game scores:
- A graded prompt: its kind (task, question, discussion or steer), the eight scores, how many words it had, whether it was spelled clean, and which model graded it.
- Work: a session opening and closing, a turn finished, a commit, a test run passing or failing, a session's context at its fullest, a slash command's name (counted in your stats), a repo's first session.
- A merged pull request: its opaque keys, how many lines it adds and deletes, and whether the repo is yours.
- Your sign-in: GitHub tells the server your user id, login and name, once (your name never shows on your page). The server keeps no GitHub token, and the mod keeps its own game token in its store on your machine, sent only to the server it came from, over https.
Your public profile
On the online server, your page is at https://pathof.dev/u/<your-github-login>. Here's a player's. It is private until you make it public, and a private page looks exactly like a login nobody plays under. Public, it shows your login, character name, level, title (and prestige, once you have one) and XP, and each section you haven't hidden:
| Section | What it shows | At first |
|---|---|---|
badges | Every badge, which you've earned and when, and how close you are to the rest | shown |
pet | Your pet's name, species, form and mood, drawn in what it wears and the scene it stands in | shown |
streak | Your streak, your best, and the rest days left this week | shown |
stats | Prompts graded, your average and best grade, each measure's average, your average context peak | shown |
history | What you imported from before Path of Dev, once you've imported it | hidden |
It never shows your name on GitHub, your items (but what your pet wears and the scene it stands in), your gold or the commands you use. Pages are never cached, so a change shows on the next view:
/pathofdev profile # what it shows /pathofdev profile public # anyone can see it /pathofdev profile private # nobody can /pathofdev profile hide <section> # leave a section out /pathofdev profile show <section> # put it back
The Stats tab of the pane says where your page is and whether it's public.
The history import
Nothing is imported until you run it yourself:
/pathofdev import history
The mod reads Claude Code's own transcripts on your machine (under ~/.claude/projects/) and counts only what is dated before you started Path of Dev: prompts, sessions, projects, days, your longest streak, tool calls by kind, test runs and commits, and your first and last day. Only the counts leave your machine, never a prompt, an answer, a command, a path or a project's name. They earn no XP and no badges; the game never reads them. They show on your profile only if you show history. Another import replaces the last.
Export and delete
/pathofdev account export
Writes everything the server keeps of you to JSON files under ~/.pathofdev/exports/: your account, your save, every event the mod sent and what the game made of it, and your imported history. complete.json comes last; an export without it stopped part way, so run it again. Two things are left out: the seed your loot is rolled from, which would let anyone predict your drops, and the hashes of your tokens.
/pathofdev account delete <your-github-login>
Deletes all of it, in one go: your tokens stop working, and the mod forgets what it kept for that server. Typing your login is how the server knows you mean it. The database is backed up daily and each backup is kept for 14 days, so a deleted account is gone from every backup within 14 days. If your login was on the beta list, that entry stays; signing in again starts a new, empty account.
Playing locally
On a local save, nothing goes anywhere: the game server runs on your machine and keeps everything under ~/.pathofdev. There's no sign-in and no public profile. Repo names go to your own server, which is your own disk. The history import works there too, and stays there.
