Commands
Everything you can type at Claude Code's prompt to play, and every setting. Words in angle brackets are yours to fill in. This list is checked against the mod's own commands on every change, so it names each one there is.
The pane
/pathofdevOpens the pane, the game's hub. Anything after
/pathofdevthat isn't a command below opens it too./pathofdev welcomeOpens the first-run guide from its first step: name your character, choose and name your pet's egg, and see how grading works.
/pathofdev lastHow your last graded prompt was scored: its grade and XP, its kind, each measure, and Haiku's note. The same card the band's scores button opens, in any band mode.
/questlineThe game's old name, Questline: it does exactly what
/pathofdevdoes, with the same arguments, and goes away later.
The tabs
- Inventory: your pet card (pat, feed, hatch; keep it still or hide it), your sigil and band styles to equip, with a live preview, and everything else you own.
- Shop: today's shelf, treats, rerolling and salvaging duplicates, and crafting from shards.
- Stats: your last prompt's card, your progress, streak, prompting profile, context habits and top commands, what you imported from before Path of Dev, and where your public page is.
- Missions: today's dailies and this week's weeklies, to pick up or abandon.
- Welcome: the first-run guide.
Every control is a button: click it, or give the pane the keys and use Tab and Enter. Esc hands the keys back to the prompt.
The pet
/petPats your pet: its mood goes up a little, at most 3 pats an hour. Before it hatches, it says when you can hatch it.
/pathofdev petSays where your pet stands on the band, and how to change it.
/pathofdev pet stillKeeps it in one place on the band. It still reacts to your work.
/pathofdev pet moveLets it wander the band again (while Celebrations is
full)./pathofdev pet hideTakes it off the band. Its mood and its XP bonus stay.
/pathofdev pet showBrings it back, still or wandering as it was.
/pathofdev pet tipIts tip about your last graded prompt, in its bubble and as text, whatever the Pet coach setting says.
The choice is the band's, so it holds on every server you play on.
Servers and sign-in
Each server keeps its own save, and the mod keeps a queue of what you did for each, sent once it answers.
/pathofdev serverSays which server you play on, and, while it isn't answering, why and what to do.
/pathofdev server onlinePlays on the online server,
api.pathof.dev. Then sign in with/pathofdev login./pathofdev server playPlays on your own local save in
~/.pathofdev, which needs the local server running (see playing locally)./pathofdev server defaultis the same./pathofdev server devPlays on the dev sandbox in
~/.pathofdev-dev, a throwaway save for trying out band styles, XP and celebrations (see the dev sandbox)./pathofdev dev offLeaves the dev sandbox for your own save: the same as
/pathofdev server play./pathofdev loginonlineSigns you in to the online server with GitHub: it gives you a code to enter on github.com and says when you're in. GitHub tells the server only who you are.
/pathofdev logoutonlineSigns you out: the server revokes the mod's game token and the mod forgets it. What you do next waits in the queue until you sign in again.
Switching writes the plugin's Server setting, so /config and the command always agree.
Your public profile
On the online server, your page is at pathof.dev/u/<your-github-login>. It is private until you make it public. Profile & privacy says what each section shows.
/pathofdev profileonlineSays whether your page is public, what it shows, what you've hidden, its address, and the sections there are.
/pathofdev profile publiconlineAnyone with the address can see your page.
/pathofdev profile privateonlineNobody can: the page answers “No profile here”, as for a login nobody plays under.
/pathofdev profile hide <section>onlineLeaves a section off your page:
badges,pet,streak,statsorhistory./pathofdev profile show <section>onlinePuts a section back. Every section but
historystarts shown.
Your account
/pathofdev account exportonlineWrites everything the online server keeps of you to JSON files under
~/.pathofdev/exports/, a folder per export,complete.jsonlast./pathofdev account delete <your-github-login>onlineDeletes your account on the online server for good: your character, pet, items and history. Typing your login is how the server knows you mean it; a wrong one deletes nothing, and
/pathofdev account deletealone only says what it would do.
Your history
/pathofdev import historyCounts your Claude Code work from before you started Path of Dev, from Claude Code's own transcripts on your machine: prompts, sessions, projects, days, your longest streak, tool calls, test runs and commits. Only the counts are sent, and they earn no XP. On the online server they can show on your profile as
history, which starts hidden. Run it again to replace them.
Settings
The plugin's settings are in Claude Code's /config, under Path of Dev.
Band:auto·full·lineauto(the default) opens the band when something happens (a graded prompt, loot, a level-up, a finished mission, a badge, a tip) and folds it a few seconds after;fullkeeps it open;linenever draws it. Inautoandlinea status line under the prompt keeps your level, XP, missions and last grade.Celebrations:full·reduced·offHow drops, level-ups and finished missions play in the band: full animations (the band grows for the big ones, and epic and legendary drops chime), one still frame and no sound, or none.
Pet coach:good·always·offWhen your pet says a short tip about your last prompt: now and then after a well-graded one (the default), after weaker ones too, gently, or only when you ask with
/pathofdev pet tip. At most one tip every three graded prompts. The tip stays on your machine.Reward toasts: on · offOne toast for everything a prompt, a commit, a mission or a level-up earned. Off, the band still celebrates.
Words to grade a promptThe fewest words a prompt needs to be graded, pasted text included: 6 by default.
Server:default·dev·onlineWhich server the mod plays on: your own local save, the dev sandbox, or the online server.
/pathofdev serverswitches it from the prompt.Online server URLThe online server's address,
https://api.pathof.devunless you run your own.
The local server reads two environment variables: PATHOFDEV_DEV=1 starts it as the dev sandbox, and PATHOFDEV_HOME, when set, is the folder its save lives in, in place of ~/.pathofdev (or ~/.pathofdev-dev).
For the server's admins
Signup on the online server is open to anyone with a GitHub account. Its admins keep a beta list, which would let in only those named should signup ever close again. Anyone else is told only the admins can use these.
/pathofdev beta listadminsThe logins on the beta list, and who added them.
/pathofdev beta add <github-login>adminsAdds a login to the list.
/pathofdev beta remove <github-login>adminsTakes a login off it. Their account stays.
The dev sandbox
For trying the game out, or working on it: a local server started in dev mode keeps a throwaway save in ~/.pathofdev-dev and takes these commands. Start it from a clone with PATHOFDEV_DEV=1 pnpm --filter @pathofdev/server start, then switch to it with /pathofdev server dev. The online server never takes them.
/pathofdev dev stylesdevGives you every band style you don't have yet, to try them on.
/pathofdev dev item <id>devGives you the item with that id.
/pathofdev dev xp <amount>devGrants that much XP.
/pathofdev dev gold <amount>devSets your gold.
/pathofdev dev celebrate <common|uncommon|rare|epic|legendary|levelup|xp>devPlays that celebration in the band, without changing your save.
/pathofdev dev complete <mission-id>devFinishes a running mission, or a weekly on offer.
/pathofdev dev rolldevRolls a fresh set of missions.
/pathofdev dev sessiondevOpens a made-up second session for a while, with a prompt graded 10, for the missions that need two sessions at once.
/pathofdev dev restockdevRestocks today's shelf, as if nothing had been bought.
/pathofdev dev mood <0-100>devSets your pet's mood.
/pathofdev dev shards <amount>devSets your shards of every rarity.
